38 local gender-neutral restrooms 🚽

What’s a gender-neutral bathroom? Just what it sounds like – a bathroom that does not distinguish between male + female gender. Restrooms like this allow transgender people and those who do not identify with the gender binary to feel comfortable using a restroom without a label, plus allowing those with disabilities, the elderly + children to use the restroom with assistance from a caregiver of any gender.

Vermont recently signed into law a bill that would require all single-user bathrooms to be labeled “gender-free”to be enacted on July 1. This makes Vt. the 19th state to consider gender identity as a protected class in accommodating law. S.C. has not yet passed any legislation on the issue (although H. 3012a “bathroom bill” in favor of enforcing binary gender-designated restrooms, similar to N.C.’s controversial HB2 bill that made national headlines in 2016 – was introduced in 2017).

We asked you where the family-style + gender-neutral bathrooms are in Cola – and there are dozens. Moms, you’ll notice the next time your kid has to go to the bathroom and you’re in the longest line ever for the women’s bathroom…. while the men’s has no line. 🤦‍
