Calling all runners + walkers (of all ages): The Governor’s Cup Road Race presented by Lexington Medical Center is coming up next weekend, May 17-18. The big event is actually five events over the course of two days, including the Expo, Main Street Mile, Kid’s Main Street Mile, Half-Marathon, and 5K Run/Walk. 👟 We’re tired (and pumped) just thinking about it.

In the spirit of the events quickly approaching, we gathered up some interesting stats to break down the race by the numbers:

  • 2,500. The walking steps in a mile (1,700 running steps).
  • 46. The number of years this event has been held.
  • 30. The gallons of free Gatorade provided for runners at the race by Road Runners Club of America.
  • 1,000+. The number of kids who get to run the Kid’s Main Street Mile for free.
  • 25,000. The steps in a half-marathon.
  • 3. The number of races runners have to complete to get the Triple Crown honor.
  • 25. The number of Spirit Corps groups cheering on runners along the course throughout the half-marathon.
  • 1456. The liters of sweat (393 gallons) produced by 364 race finishers during last year’s half-marathon.
  • $12,800. Total prize money allocated for race winners.
  • 9. The number of sleeps until race weekend begins.

If you were hoping one of those stats was $0, you’re in luck. Head to our Instagram by Friday to enter our giveaway for a Governor’s Cup Road Race package, including two free race registrations (with race t-shirts featuring the winning t-shirt design), a catered lunch for 10 from Panera Bread, and a $20 gift card to Mellow Mushroom for beers after you sweat it out.
