DYK the Midlands has a “smash room?” Smash rooms, (or riot rooms), are a place where you can relieve all your frustrations by smashing things. They first started in Japan in 2008, then gained popularity across other countries (like England and Argentina), before making their way to the U.S. You can find them in Dallas, Milwaukee, Rochester, Charlotte + more – and now in West Columbia.

The SC Riot Room opened at 2243 Leaphart Rd. about 5 months ago. Here are a few quick facts about how it works:

  • There are a variety of things to break: glassware, ceramics, laptops, computer monitors, printers + more. All the items to destroy are collected via donation, Goodwill + from other businesses.
  • You can also bring your own items (i.e. that large picture frame collage of your ex) to break.
  • Prices range $20-120 $20 for glass-only, $25 for up to 2 people, $60 for 3 + $120 for 4.
  • Your riot can last 15-30 minutes + can be scheduled, or walk-ins are welcome Monday-Friday, 4-7 p.m.
  • More FAQs.

If you find your zen in other ways, share this with a friend who has someone boiling his/her blood. No one needs to be polite in the riot room.
