If Monday’s forecast is clear, there will be more to see in the eclipsed sky than •just• the phenomena of the moon passing completely in front of the sun. Here’s what else to look for on Eclipse Day – but don’t forget to keep your glasses on if any part of the sun is still showing.

🌑 Shadow Bands | Flickering, wavy lines of light + shadow reflected on the ground right before totality

🌑 Baily’s Beads | Dancing sunlight beads around the moon 2-3 seconds before + after totality

🌑 Diamond Ring | Flair of sunlight on the edge of the moon to create the appearance of a “diamond ring” around the moon, just before totality

🌑 Corona | After the diamond ring, the sun’s corona will appear as wispy white strings around the black hole-like appearance of the moon

🌑 Nighttime | When the moon fully passes in front of the sun, nocturnal animals may come out, the temperature will suddenly drop + the wind could pick up
