Lately, the 18-acre Finlay Park hasn’t exactly looked like all the iconic images you see in advertisements for Cola – but things are soon changing, with park improvements in the works.

The spiral fountain (which has been shut off for 1.5+ years) will be running again by the end of August. Construction of a $175,000 playground (replacing the one removed in 2016 due to safety concerns) will hopefully be open at the end of September. Repairs to $52,000 worth of erosion issues (near Laurel + Assembly St.) will begin at the beginning of September.

$10-20 million worth of additional improvements under discussion include a multi-use venue building, a destination playground – and that elusive manmade beach. (#Goals.) Not much planning is done on these so far, as funding will become a major factor in making these amenities happen.
