2day is pretty special because the date is 02.02.2022. With that in mind, we want 2 take this opportunity 2 challenge + activate you as a citizen. Ever heard of the phrase “It takes 2 to tango?” Well, we want to see the whole city dancing.

2 celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime day, we’ve put 2gether a list of 10 things you can do as a citizen 2 love Columbia — and your fellow Soda Citizens — a bit better. It’s the month of love, after all.

Are you up 2 the challenge? Choose 2 things (or more) on this list you can do 2day. The goal? 2 make your city better 2morrow for everyone.

  1. Eat locally + leave a big tip for the server or barista at a coffee shop.
  2. Register to vote. See the 2021-2022 election calendar and have a say in local civic news.
  3. Ride a bike around town instead of driving.
  4. Pick up a piece of trash.
  5. Sign up for a volunteer opportunity.
  6. Pay it forward. Buy someone’s meal, cup of coffee, or gas.
  7. Donate to a local cause. Maybe take it a step further + decide to foster or adopt a furever friend from Pawmetto Lifeline or Pets Inc.
  8. Plant a tree or contribute to a community garden.
  9. Meet or talk to one of your neighbors.
  10. Plan to attend a local community event or meeting.

Though this is a challenge for 2day, the challenge doesn’t have 2 stop here. Maybe you look back on this list once a month, invite your friends 2 participate, or even add 2 our list and create your own.

Regardless of what you choose 2 do, allow 2day’s challenge 2 inspire you 2 make lasting change in your city.

By the way — while we’re normally 2 sticklers for AP-style writing, we’ll be back 2 our regular scheduled writing style 2morrow. Stay 2uned.
