Hey Columbia, Caitlin here. It’s almost spring – and I know I can’t be the only one excited about this, right? While the equinox isn’t until the 20th, I’m taking the warmer weather for all it’s worth – and so is Soda City. This month is loaded with #MustDos – making it hard to pick just six events you have to attend in March.

I’m already keeping an eye on those NCAA tournament resale tickets. And I can’t wait for Indie Grits; it’s going to be reel.

Carolina Classic Home & Garden Show | Fri.-Sun., Mar. 8-10 | 11 a.m. | S.C. State Fairgrounds, 1200 Rosewood Dr. | $5 at the gate | If you are looking to upgrade your home or garden, the 53rd annual show is the way to go with 200 exhibitors who are experts on home and garden maintenance, educational seminars, prizes + more.

Columbia Museum of Art Gala | Sat., Mar. 9 | Columbia Museum of Art | $175 | Every year, the CMA does their gala bigger and better. This year, they are taking it retro with a Copacabana bar + lounge, catering from Southern Way + appearances from Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe + more.

St. Pat’s in Five Points | Sat. Mar. 16 | 9 a.m.-7 p.m. | Five Points | $20 in advance, $25 day-of | Celebrate the luck o’ the Irish with music from Dashboard Confessional, lovelytheband + more, along with a silent disco, local vendors, the traditional green beer + a St. Pat’s parade. Learn more about the event here.

2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament | Thurs.-Sun., Mar. 21-24 | 12 a.m. | Colonial Life Arena, 801 Lincoln St. | $81+ | If you are planning to attend the tournament, it’s a good thing we already put together everything you need to know. Tickets are going fast, though, so you’ll want to get one sooner rather than later.

Indie Grits Film Festival | Thurs.-Sun., Mar. 28-31 | times vary | Nickelodeon Theatre | $150 for a weekend pass, $100 for members | This local film festival is truly a must do. Not only is it a weekend filled with films, but there’s an Indie Bits arcade, live music throughout the weekend + much more.

Columbia City of Women Launch | Sun., Mar. 31 | 6-8 p.m. | Columbia Museum of Art | $35-$250 | Historic Columbia is partnering with WREN to bring more recognition to the historic women of Columbia. While they haven’t announced much yet, the partners will be announcing their female honorees at the event launch along with tasty treats, a signature cocktail + more.
